7D iso200 is the best?

Just checked out some review sites and it seems that ISO 200 on 7D has the lowest noise level instead of ISO 100. Why is that so?? So is it better to shoot in ISo200 then? ANyone cares to comment?

Yeap.. interesting question.. Seem like default setting should be ISO200.. maybe that is why Nikon does not have ISO100.

So far from all the photos I've shot, I find that there's no significant noise difference from ISO100 & ISO200. Most of the time I shoot using ISO200 for fast shutter speed. For night photography with tripod, I would defintely use ISO100.

ISO 200 is better. If you want the least amount noise in your photos, you should use ISO200.

ISO settings are determined by the conditions that you are in. Would you use ISO800 all the time if ISO800 gives the best quality? Low ISOs have their uses when shutter speed and aperture limitations set in.

Heard Timber Wolf mentioned that ISO100 would be cleaner if shoot in raw mode.

Hi there. ISO 100 is supposedly noisier than ISO 200 because the 7D completely switches off in-camera JPEG smoothing when you take the picture. Hence, nice blue skies may appear a little grainy, but IMHO nothing to worry about. When you compare RAW processed shots with ISO 100 and 200, the ISO 100 shots are less noisy.

Noise levels are pretty low for 7D. Unless you're taking pics just to measure the noise levels, it shouldn't matter. I won't hesistate to use ISO 800 or higher.

no lah ;p 7D's noise levels are similar to 20D's which I'm using and I have no problem shooting at high ISO. It could be better but I'm pretty happy right now.

Yup. Anw, there's very little difference between ISO 100 and 200, though I use 100 if I can help it because I can more easily rescue it if I underexpose accidentally.

Have fun. I've no reservations about using ISO 800 or 1600. =)

for 7D, as long your frame is very well lit, using ISO1600 or ISO3200 has very manageable noise level but of course some amount of details are lost.

Hmm. Interesting. It's almost as if the lit areas have no noise, but the unlit areas have tons of noise. Is this characteristic of other DSLRs as well? Or mebbe the 7D is boosting the tone curve so that the noise is more obvious in the shadows?

ISO3200, don't think you can ask for much. The performance is very good already. How many DSLRs have ISO3200 at the price range of 7D?

Great have been shooting ISO 200 with some in-camera sharpening just like that for some time..

U see the noise when u view it at 100%... but at 50% it's really not noticeable... stop quibbling lar... it's good enough for a pretty large image... I think at A4 the noise will still not be very noticeable...
