as i read about lens, it seem tha 70-200 is more expensive than 70-300? what is this so? function wise,300 give more zooming le.

Price and quality of built.

The 70-200 @ 200mm Can offer for F2.8 in bokeh feel or low light function.

The 70-300mm if only f5.6 then your picture almost is clear and sharp only.
But you ISO may increase for f5.6 1/60s to made you picture without blur.

I have the same thoughts when I was a newbie :p
Then seeing what a F/2.8 lens can do, I always only use my 70-300mm on holiday trip..

Hi brother jiannn L, do you find this tight for cropped body. Thinking of getting this but always this too tight for family shoots. I have the 70-300 & always find it too tight for outings. My 70-300 is the least use lens so far as it is too tight for most occasions except for zoo etc. still undecided to get this 70-200. Thanks.

Hi gnesgnoy..
I don't find it tight, as long as you know the range of it and comfortable with it will do.
Although with the crop body, the range become 105-300mm because of x1.5..
But I'm comfortable with it and I know the distance of where to shoot & how to shoot. :)

Hi Buzzmario..
Although 300mm gives you more zooming..
Don't forget, 70-200mm vr2 there's a Nano Crystal inside, also.. It provide you f/2.8 and good in low light situation.
It provide very sharp images and many more, you can do a research between 70-200mm vr 1 or 2 and 70-300mm

I've used the 70-200 VR2 on my D90, and I too find it too tight for close proximity shoots. But I've never gotten this lens for this purpose, mainly because I know on a crop I get more reach hence it is a fantastic all-lighting condition telephoto which I've used mainly to shoot distant subjects.

Both 70-200 and 70-300 will always be too tight if you are thinking of using the 70mm end for closeups as both are Fx lenses to begin with. On an Fx, 70mm is much less tighter.

For Family shoots, you should have gotten a shorter zoom instead. Good low light would be 17-55 or 24-70 (although too heavy and expensive on a crop, but some peeps don't mind) or 3rd party alternatives. However, 70-200/70-300/80-200 can also be very useful also if you wish to snipe your little ones running around unnoticed - they produce very nice bokehs due to the focal range. Some peeps use these lenses for portraiture (of course need to be pretty far away). To spend 2K plus on a 85mm/1.4G, might as well get a versatile zoom (covering this FL) if you don't mind lugging it around... Or course, 1.4 delivers a much creamier bokeh, but 2.8 at this distance is good enough for some.
