Have been looking around for a 35mm adapter for HF100.

Is there any cheaper alternatives other than Letus mini?

Where to get the letus mini in singapore?

Cinevate Brevis but price is not better. U can go for something cheaper like the SGpro but u shouldnt be taking the risk of throwing yr $ away. Letus n Brevis r tried n tested solutions. Some folks here have the Letus Economy.

hmmm.....
so implicitly, there's no other alternatives to letus and brevis ?
good quality comes with a price i guess....

My question then, where to get letus mini or brevis in Singapore?
Is the image will be upside down in my HF100's lcd?
Will I need a rod support system for HF100+letus mini?
What's the price like here in Singapore?

Thanks for even bothering to answer to my question! :)

yeah.. a lot of ppl has tried and tested. Myself an ex owner of the brevis. U will notice the latest ones comes with a flip now. Letus Mini/Extreme and Brevis Flip has good reviews. There is another brevis flip for sale now at about SGD2800 including rails and imaging elements for medium n small cams.

If u r to import either yourself, the freight cost is controlled by the mfg and u have NO choice on the forwarder. The freight cost about SGD200. Total plus GST (CIF) convert to SGD for Letus Extreme now is about SGD3200. That is with only 1 imaging element plus rails 45mm. etc.

Dun forget u need to buy some SLR lens. Unless u go for old zoom lens like Canon FD or the Nikkor, u should cater 1.5k for 28mm/35mm, 50mm F1.4, 85mm F1.8 for a good setup. Rails r a must if u need the flip.

I would say SGD4-5k would be enuf for a decent setup. Unforutnately the investment is 2x your camcorder. So plan carefully b4 u plunge into. Dun end up having enuf to buy the setup but no $ for the lens. Fast lens is really essential for DOF adapter due to light loss. Good luck!

DIY one cost way cheaper... Fit for beginner to make...Cost much less but it still be around 200SG

Wow....
That's quite an investment remembering that I'm just starting out to venture into this videography thing.

Basically, I just need the dof effect. So, it doesn't need to be fancy or top of the line product.
As long as it does the job, it's good enough.
As for the lenses, I do have a line up of lenses from my canon DSLR.
I do have 10-22, 50 1.8, 85 1.8. I guess it's a pretty decent setup for starters?

Some of the term u mention is a bit out of my league.
pardon this newbie here..... :p

I read from the website, the letus mini is around 1k? no?
No distributor in Singapore?
letus extreme would be out of the budget in my case. >.<

Wow, that's quite a bargain! :o
Care to elaborate more about this DIY adapter?

You can find the tutorial here

http://www.jetsetmodels.info/tutorials.htm

But the material it suggested is quite expensive. You need to find alternatives. The only thing that is HARD to replace is the Canon EE-A focusing screen which I opt to use the original (it does give great quality and worth the buy. Trust me).

na.. they do not offer dealership. So we have to import directly from overseas. Try your luck n check the price. They will give u the shipping cost as well. Make a conversion to SGD+2% for currency risk, and x1.07 (inc freight cost) to get the final price. DHL/FEDEX will charge u a small admin fee of about SG$10-20 as well. So since u have lens alr its not that exp for ya

Nice find! I haven seen this b4. Wonder wats the price like..

A director friend of mine have one of these. It's great for previewing your shots before we capture them on film (since 35mm is quite expensive per can...)

Price? USD4000. Not to mention those extremely lovely, well-crafted, perfect distillation of cinematic evolution Arri primes...

Hi guys, you can now get the 35mm DOF adapter from me here is Singapore. I have perfected it and getting the quality of the bigger boys, maybe even better. Check out my vimeo for samples here... http://www.vimeo.com/1349372

Hey greg!

does your adapter work on any camcorder? I'm thinking of buying a canon HF100..haha..but i don't know if that is too "unprofessional" in application for your 35mm converter. Like most other users here i think, I have alot of canon lenses that i was hoping i could use...especially my 17-40 and 100mm macro..hehe

Check out my footages here http://www.vimeo.com/1349372 and blog here http://www.gt35pro.blogspot.com/

Nikolai, my adapter is meant for camcorders of all ranges. It works very well with my HV20. The HF100 is a very good camcorder and I have a Russian customer that just ordered the camcorder with my adapter.
