2nd lens for m8 (50mm summicron or summilux)

Any advise from seasoned users here?

have a 35mm cron. WOuld like the lux for low light capability.

I shoot mostly portraits and some street.

Please feel free to give suggestions...

Saw a few version 2 summilux... wonder if i should get a new summicron??

I think a version 3 or the ASPH Summilux would be great for the M8, which can focus to 0.7m. For low light conditions, f/2 at 50mm is still a bit slow.

But if it doesn't have to be the L brand, then there's plenty of other options.

If you want low light, go with the Lux. I personally do not like the Lux Asph as it is too sharp, especially if you want to do portriature. Lux50preAsph(E46) is nice.

Of course they are other options..such as Canon50f1.5LTM, Canon50f1.4LTM, Nikkor50f1.4LTM, Topcor50f1.5LTM, Zeiss50f1.5(LTM or Contax mount with adapter) or something faster like Canon50f1.2LTM, Nokton50f1.1.

But if you are choosing between Cron or Lux, I'll go with Lux50preAsph(E46).

I have owned several of version 2, and IMHO, if the close focus distance is not a issue for you, version 2 is a great buy because its price more affordable and maybe better built.
