2017- RIP the consumer camcorder?

CES 2017 came and went with Sony and Panasonic introducing a grand total of ZERO camcorder!!!
Perhaps the writing was already on the wall when Panasonic decided to remove the 30 minute time limit on their FZ2000. For all intent and purposes, the FZ2000 is a fully functional camcorder in the form factor of a superzoom.
Save to assume, Sony should be almost certain to follow suit with their RX10 mark IV now that there don't seen to be a new Sony AX or a CX in sight.
Touchscreen and fully articulating LCD should be the next evolution on the RX10 range.

Good analysis!

you'd really have to ask, at this point of time, is the consumer camcorder still even relevant?

With smart phones only reason to buy a camcorder is for semi-professional or professional use..

A gimbal like DJI osmo mobile and good smartphone and u can have really good stable video comparable to even professional camcorders...

Only only advantage of sony AX100 over sony RX10 is the 7 hour battery life.
