2013 has been an exciting year of camera releases that really open one eyes to what is technologically possible and commercially viable.
While I'm happy to see new entrants to the video camera space, I'm also happy to see some exits, namely 3D cameras. haha!
Next year, undoubtably will be the 4K fiasco. But I hope some camera makers will listen to consumers for a change. My hope for a new industry standard:
• Handheld prosumer-sized camcorder no larger than AG-AC160
• 1" CMOS sensor
• 10X parfocal zoom 26-260mm (equivalent) f1.2-2.8
• mechanical zoom and focus ring
• MPEG4/intra AVC/Quicktime Prores encoding
• 120GB Internal flash memory
• Dual SDXC slots
• 4:2:2 HDMI out
• WIFI remote viewing and control
• 5 axis stabiliser
• built-in bluetooth audio in/out
• XLR inputs
• HDR mode
• timelapse recording
• price tag under $5000
What would you like to see in 2014?
