How much do you all think the 1d mk3 will cost when it reaches the Singapore Island.?

Read that the price in US and Hongkong is around 6.2k

Wat are your views?
DOes anyone have any clue when the camera will come in?
or when does the second batch of camera comes in>??

Reason being wanna avoid getting the first batch, cos may have some manufacture fault or problem.

Thanks

Juz asked staff @ CP and he also have no idea, but reckoned that the price should range > $7K. What fault r u referring to?

What fault r u referring to?

In Rob Galbraith's article http://www.robgalbraith.com/bins/multi_page.asp?cid=7-8738-8908 they are mentioning auto-focus problem in the pre-production set: "There is one cause for concern, however, and it's one to pay close attention to if you're planning on buying an EOS-1D Mark III as soon as it ships. In the preproduction body we have, the autofocus doesn't work right. When it was issued to us, Canon made it clear that the autofocus wasn't working right in this generation of preproduction camera and/or firmware and provided the assurances you'd expect about how it will be working properly by the time the new model hits the streets. And that's likely to be the case. But it's not guaranteed to be the case, so please keep that in mind before you hand over your VISA card to your pro camera dealer."

I'm sure Canon will fix that problem before the Mark III is shipped. But of course there might be some minor problem when the product will be shipped but I doubt there will be any big faults...

er, ask you, where did you get this kind of weird thinking?

or its a pure consumer behaviour?

Canon Malaysia is lunching the 1D MkIII next week, retail price at approx RM14000.00

It is common knowledge that everything with technology in it usually will have minor glitches of sorts in the first batches. Why do you think there are firmware updates?

Mk 3 price at Canon Spore website released. $6999.

RM14000/2.3 = $6086

Much cheaper than originally thought....

Oh....but I always blur blur air travel without asking whether the aeroplane is the first batch or not :embrass:

I agree.. sometimes it is just not realistic to test every single thing... have to go to market asap (as long as not priority 1 and 2 defects)... let consumer test and feedback :bsmilie: luckily this phenomenon happens largely in software industry... hardware should be much better

If any major fault is discovered, usually you can swap the camera for free.
