12 weeks photography assignment

Hi guys, will be sharing my weekly assignments here, for 12 weeks (doing a photography module). Not sure if anyone in that class will drop by here to see, but if you do, say hi :bsmilie:

For the life of me I can't fit it into any sub-forums, so if it's inappropriate here can mods move it? I thought of the newbie forum cause I for one am still a newbie, and in sharing I hope we can all learn together.

All are welcome to take up these assignment topics. Please feel free to give your opinions and criticisms!

PS.

I finally found out what the course code is:

I have to point out this one. It was actually a mistake leading as u can tell it is OOF. But where I was, really gave me the freaks as the OOF made it really freaky! Of course, had normal sharp ones, but..yea, i feel this caught what I wanted to portray best.

bro, don't be too in love with the portrait orientation.. and leave some room in the pictures between your subjects and the edge of the frame.

W1-34/35/36 was an exercise to "observe" the outside on the top deck of a bus which i took it literally and took shots to show that I did. Heck I do it from young :bsmilie:

and that's 36 :)

It was not easy thinking up 36 photos in a week. Forced me to have my camera everywhere I go now (which is a really good habit to develop!), and constantly thinking.

Next up theme for next week: Infinity
Shots : 16

On a side note: There was some ego-bruising done today. Mr.G (lets say he's Mr.G, if he surfs this forum, that's okay haha!) looked at W1-1~10 then said I'm a little lazy. Like what? It's not comfy to train the eyes through the viewfinder like what, 3 hours, tweaking my little flash head with a half-snoot gobo (some of them) looking at where I'm bouncing my flash. And kids are not static...

on a side side note: Last week was my light experimentation week, so i was playing with soft window lighting w1-9/10. Well...let's just say he said no to soft toys.

Im totally okay with critiques on my photos, but to say im lazy when I put in so much effort in my work..made me emo haha

/end rant

Im probably gonna get flamed for this. But hey, lets look forward to week 2! To INFINITY and beyond!!

side side side note: he said no to product shots too. I was thinking of doing a strobist-style shot of a watch...hmm. Thankfully the community here is great :bsmilie:

Thanks DD, I also noted this..quite balanced actually what i shoot, but i guess ur right im 'in love with portrait orientation' so end up showing more of these. Find it gives more opportunity in isolating my subjects. But thanks bro, points noted for the next assignment!

I enjoy browsing your photos, Keep up the gd Work =)

Thanks for viewing :)

Thanks to catchlights and whichever mod that moved the thread here :bsmilie:

I'm fast running out of ideas for INFINITY, hopefully can share before the next assignment is due on thursday!

Here's 16 for Infinity:

as he seemed to be teaching about depth of field as a tool to give a sense of depth...i took that as a hint. Well anw...

W2-3

A feel of what depth is about.

An attempt on the other side of the tunnel.

What's infinite about this picture? The lines lead to a seemingly unending tunnel, yet with the "light at the end of the tunnel". The irony of this picture is the homeless man sleeping at the "end of the tunnel", in which poverty is a seemingly unending problem.

Is the sky infinite? What about clouds? The leading lines criss-cross making a dynamic picture, but the opened window was what caught my eye as it broke that dynamism.

To know infinity u must grasp what is finite.

It was said, that this place was haunted by the unknown. To us, the unfathomable, the unknown universe, is infinite. Or is it?

Vertical lines are dynamic, and as the shadow merges with the lines, it plays with the mind with the concept of continuity

Is there an end to the lanterns? Of course, says the logical brain. It is, as we are, unable to grasp with the concept of something infinite afterall. There is , no such thing afterall.
Edited for monotone to allow the mind to fill the gap of a supposedly colourful scene.

Well, assignment due tomorrow it's 16 shots of "relationship(s)". No human shots, which makes it not-so-easy. Of course, no soft-toy shots/food shots either. The sun isn't helping much the last couple of days, being so rainy and all.

Need ideas!! I'm about 10/16 or 11/16 now.
