hey.. good to hear another S2000 user on board! 
well, i just take out the SD card(mine's a 4gb, so its a SDHC) and use it with a card reader that is SDHC compatible to retrieve all my pics, or you can use the usb cable provided with the camera.. but be sure to have the SD card in the camera if you are using the cable.. normally i use photoshop to edit my pics, i retrieve by doing the method above..
GP recyko isnt a quick charger.. not those 15mins kind of thing.. normally i charge it overnight so i estimate would be around 6-8hours.. not too sure about that.. i brought it for my school's camp.. so far last me for one day, for around 300-400 pics.. do note different settings may affect the pic capacity of the battery, especially the use of flash..
for the macro... hmm, i havent try it out that often with it.. sometimes maybe it is too close so camera cant detect?? not too sure abt it though...
