if weight is a main factor then go for D3100.. but y limit yourself with the weight? how about e capability and controls?? would seriously consider D90 if ur son is really into photography..(look at it in long term)

jus go for D90 if i were u..i used my friends D3000 b4...dono y he buy it..the feeling of it isnt nice even with its value..if i were to buy something that cost abt a D3000 i would ruther pay more...
