persoanlly I prefer the tokina 11-16mm f2.8 to the 17-40L. I find the distortion on the 17-40L quite unsatisfactory and it can be soft at F4 I also sold my 50 f1.8 for the f1.4. I find the image quality is better on the f1.4 just my humble opinion
