If you want to minimise the fuss, you could go with a tour group, which you could then see the a couple of countries, but you'd compromise on things like time spent at attractions, etc. But if you want to do your own stuff, I have to concur with alot of the other posters in the forum. 14-18...

thanks everyone for chipping in their comments...at this stage i'm inclined to go with the 17-40 to provide for a bit of flexibility...and perhaps further on i may go for another zoom lens from 70mm onwards to complement that which i have so far (currently a 50mm, and 18-200 EFS).
