I have been using setting :RAW + JPEG (Fine) on my D90, so far no issues.
You can troubleshoot by performing the following,
i. Changing the MEMORY CARD - to confirm there is nothing wrong with the memory card
ii. Changing the image quality (like those bros advised above)
If setting to...
By setting to "--", the built-in flash will still fire(only as a commander). It will not have any impact to the photo.
I tried it on D90 and it worked.
I suspect it was due the camera shake.
Try using a tripod and set timer, if the image is still blur, at least you can confirm that it was NOT caused by camera shake.
To overcome CA problem, try using Nikkor Lens with ED tagged.
This indicates that some of the glass in the lens is Nikons Extra-Low Dispersion glass, which means the lens is less prone to lens flare and chromatic aberrations.
Things that might help you decide :
1. Lens price
Nikon Lens are generally more expensive
2. Your friends are using Nikon/Canon
Can share lens/knowledge among friends
3. Top LCD and button functions
Nikon has Top LCD and more buttons that allows faster setting switch.

- Have explored most features (if not all).
- Pretty happy with what it offers.
Besides, I do not have hands-on on D700 before, would like to find out what it offers that out performed D90 in terms of picture quality...
