I second that! If you mean the occasional shower or downpour then it should be no problem. Shot an airshow in Japan in 2004 in pouring rain with D70, kit lens, 80-200 f/2.8D and all performed with no problem. If you mean in extreme conditions like the artic, blizzards, deserts etc... then...

Anybody got this lense? How is it and where got the best deal? Thinking of getting it since no money for better quality zooms.

I used my D70 last Sep at the Hyakuri Air Fest in Japan. It was pouring on and off the whole day. No problem with the camera or kit lens and AFD80-200mm. Just bring a small towel so you can dry it every now and then. Also don't change your CF card unless you're under cover ;)

So how many of us managed to get their hands on the first batch of D2X? ESPN must have gotten one at least right? Any where's the cheapest place for it now and how much? Still not gotten my yet :(

To add a little! Both systems have their supporters and as long as the user is happy with what he has then that's enough. Cameras are just like buying clothes, you go with what suits you best. The man behind the shutter is more important.

I don't think Nikon's cameras are that fragile! I own the 'plastic' D70 and have used it in the rain during a recent airshow in Japan. We had varying amount of rain the whole day from a drizzle to the heavy stuff during the flying slots. No problems at all even though we were getting drenched...

Agreed!!! :cool: Best stick to the kit lens then get another zoom. Tamrom or Sigma has a 28-200 that is quite small and light cos it's not a F2.8 lens. But I love the 2.8 even with thw weight cos it's well balanced. :thumbsup:

Nikon or 3rd party? If you do a lot of landscape then the Nikon DX 12-24 or Sigma one is a good lens to get if you got $1xxx+ to spare. If you're using it for holidays and stuff then the money would be better spent on a longer zoom.
