This is great help! Thanks a lot! I’ve been setting to ‘Receiver’, which do not allow manual. The ‘Individual receiver’ setting allows manual setting.

First I set it as slave/receiver mode (not the main flash). Then when I try to change the mode, Manual is disabled, only ETTL is available.

Is slave flash always on ETTL? Can I set it to manual mode? Ex. How to set using Canon EL-1 or 600 EX II? Thanks!

thanks for the replies. just to expand a bit and to make a conclusion, the 7D (or the 5DII) cannot focus on servo when in live view mode. it always lock focus like the one shot mode. please correct me if i'm wrong.

i noticed that the face detector in the 7D is like single shot where the AF point is on the face and locks focus when half press. is there a way i can make it like servo where it will continue to track the face while half press?

i think simplest way is to set the cam in single shot and choose the center AF point. try to focus on something stationary, normally something easy to focus on. ex. a label on a bottle. try multiple times with the same setting. then do the same with different focal length and distances. your...
