I do not think that the thread starter needs to explain his standpoint and neither do you. Do we as observers of the photograph really care what sort of predicament you are in when you do take the photo? We appreaciate the picture for what it is and what it tries to convey ... and not some...

I'm sorry -- but I do not think you have a right to judge the person who did take that photograph. Not everyone does these things for a portfolio. To many who have the passion -- an image is eternal. I would go (given that if I did have sufficient resources) to the greatest lengths to grab...

well, it happened to me before. and they did not even acknowledge me correctly (they put some1 else's name!!!) and when contacted them about it to clarify they refused to publish a clarification (or an apology). sigh. the power of the press.

why do u say that? the 16-35 has 2 extra stops. Admittedly from reviews the 17-40 is sharper at f4 at 17mm, but depending on the requirements the 16-35 may be a good thing for the extra 2 stops at least.
