    Don't worry too much if you are taking macro or portion of it. U need to put specimen only if you take a full frontal pic such that others can print it out and use it. Just relax and enjoy your hobby! ;)

    From the last I know SB-800 are made in Japan and SB-600 are made in China. I don't think they are made elsewhere. :)

    Like lsisaxon said. Both cable and remote are useful. For practical reason, some people will want to use cable release for bulb mode, especially long exposure like astronomy or cityscape. I use ML-L3 to take self portraits instead of using the timer. For remote device, any third party works fine...
