What strap do you use for your LX3

i'm using a neck strap, Pacsafe Carrysafe 100 http://www.pacsafe.com/www/index.php?_room=3&_action=detail&id=16 the neoprene-ish pad at the neck is adjustable and comfortable, the strap is slash proof and the ends of it can be "quick-released" to go around a pole or something if u need to take...

Pictures from LX3 for technical discussion - part II

1/4s shutter, ISO 80, super steady hands! In shutter-priority you can only choose your shutter-speed. The camera auto decides the exposure via its metering and set the aperture for you. Focal length is just in relation to the amount of zoom, I don't think that's changeable. There's a...

haha sounds like smart pricing, maybe they know lx3 owners are willing to spend more to protect their precious lol no experience with the casing, but interested too, anyone tried? :bsmilie:

    Panasonic warranty

I've heard otherwise though, most camera warranties are local to where its bought or the region I think. Not sure, would like to know too, anyone with experience on this?

    Scene Detection

Hi if I'm not wrong what the manual means is that in iA mode it will auto detect the scene based on a few preset scenes, reviews done on it have said that it was quite smart at doing so as well. So basically in iA mode just point, focus, shoot, everything else the camera will auto do for you...

Can LX3 fit into dicapac WP-500?????

According to I think their official fitlist http://www.dicapac.com.hk/fitlist.php LX3 needs the WP-610? Looks like a good budget waterpoof housing, anyone have experience with it?

Reddish skin tone taken with LX3's built in flash

same here, panasonic's awb not very smart when the lighting isn't typical. quite annoying. if you have the time and mood, shoot in raw and you can ignore white balance.

Nice pics! Why is it that all the lights have a diagonal look to it? Are you using any filters? I noticed that the exposure times are all quite long, but that would normally just a give starry look in all 4-6 directions instead of it just being diagonal?

Pictures from LX3 for technical discussion - part II

Here's my attempt at an HDR shot with the LX3 Used Aperture priority mode, auto-bracketting function, range set to +- 1EV, which resulted in the 3 shots being f/2.0, with shutters 1/40, 1/80, 1/160 (3 exposure stops?). Shot handheld, so I think explains a bit of the blurry edges :p Any...

Great plugin! Saves me a load of time trying to save to desktop and view properties lol. Shots 1 and 3 have very high noise level, ISO too high? Shot 2 has interesting colours! Shot 5 doesn't seem to have much of a subject? Just my 2 cents :)

Because the dynamic range (range of brightest to darkest) of any camera is limited compared to our incredible eyes, you have to decide which parts of the picture you want to retain details, so it depends entirely on what you want to keep and what you can sacrifice. Classic example is bright sky...

    how to create bokeh effect

haha there's another good example by andrewtansj on the Pictures from LX3 thread, the last photo is probably what u're looking for, live subject somemore lol. If you look at the EXIF data, its f/2, then again bring the subject as close as possible and keep the background far. :)

    how to create bokeh effect

Yes! almost completely right haha This Is Fate >> There's a hundred and one ways to do it, but definitely involves magnetic lasso (or any similar tool in GIMP etc) to select out the flower, then what I did was copy that out, the did the Gorman-Holbert Method to convert to B&W and stuck the...

    how to create bokeh effect

General idea is to exaggerate the difference in distance from cam to subject and cam to background, make sure nothing else in the frame is close to your subject. Then like they say, open up the aperture as large as possible, f/2.0 on wide angle or if you zoom (i think it helps) f/2.8 (large...
