Hi folks, Been offered the Canon 400D with 17-85mm IS for $999 with some small freebies like CF card and UV filter. Is it worth it? Cos 400D a bit dated, not sure how much I'll be missing out compared to the 500D. (not interested in live view, video or high MP) Thanks!

Yup, I got a shock too when those horizontal bands appeared! Hoped dat it was just some settings I accidentally changed, but there were no special modes or settings. Looks like the camera is just a goner. This is an excuse to head to MS Color to get the f50fd perhaps =)
