    Kit lens giving trouble!

Thanks Rashkae. I removed it but had no time to let it dry! Thanks Kikasa, btw, it's still giving the same problem. I'll probably go ask the ppl at Sony again. Do you still continue to use your kit lens or did you decide to get a replacement lens?

    Kit lens giving trouble!

I did something quite foolish today: was raining at the Singapore arts fest opening, but I still continued to take photos despite it getting wet. Thought that drying it every once in a while would be fine. However, towards the end of my trip, some really weird grinding sounds started...

Some questions on the features of sony dslr

Thanks for both your help, really appreciate it. It wasn't very obvious previously, but when I experimented in my room just now, it appears as if both aperture and shutter speed were being set by the camera as I kept changing shots. It's just when you turn the dial that it turns to 'Ps' mode...

Some questions on the features of sony dslr

Hi there, require some input from our more experienced alpha users! Been wondering for a long time, what is the purpose of P mode? How is it different from A or S mode? I normally just use A, S or M mode because I can't see any difference between them and the P mode. I know that all DSLRs...

Need tips on night sports photography

When you say beercan you mean the constant f4 aperture? I'm using the 'big beercan', 75-300 (f4.5-5.6 i think). At 75mm and 4.5, using an ISO of 3200 the fastest shutterspeed that I could manage was around 1/60. Is it a problem with the camera or the lighting is really low? and having a maximum...

Need tips on night sports photography

Lol. It was netball. Played on a netball court which had floodlights. Monopod to assist? How so? Actually the main problem I had was that I didn't want to up the ISO too high, and using a slow shutter speed made the subjects (players) blur. When i put to my max iso 3200, naturally they'd be...

My take on new A330: bit like Nikon design?

Actually, you are right. hehe. Size is good, but I don't quite like the on/off button and the dial position of the 230/330/380/500s. The old 200/300/700 dial positions are nicer. The 550 and 500 look like extremely promising cams. Too bad I bought my 300 earlier this year. I'm not going to...

My take on new A330: bit like Nikon design?

Seems like the new A500 series has the same Nikon-ish design. It's quite disappointing because one of the reasons I bought my A300 was because of all the cameras, it fits my hand perfectly. It is seriously the most ergonomic design I've ever experienced. And the A500 sounds like a REALLY good...

Need tips on night sports photography

Hi there, I tried dabbling in some sports photography using my A300 the other day, using my kit lens and a 75-300 minolta. Sadly, it was a netball game at night, and even with floodlights, the lighting wasn't enough. Needless to say, I had a lot of blur images, or noisy images due to...

My take on new A330: bit like Nikon design?

Titan10k thanks for the input. Does that mean that selecting both switches on the lens and body will cause the focusing to be faster? Deep down inside me I think not. haha But still, I'm trying to figure out what was Sony's reason for making a brand new 18-55 lens when the 18-70mm kit lens is...

My take on new A330: bit like Nikon design?

LOL Nope I wasn't comparing an aeroplane with a camera. It's a bit difficult to find the greek alpha signal on this crappy laptop haha. Maybe I'll clarify...difference between Sony A330 and Nikon

My take on new A330: bit like Nikon design?

Hi, just the other day I decided to check out the new A330 at Sonystyle out of curiosity. I thought it was pretty cool, but I couldn't help but notice the similarities it shares with the Nikon D80 (the only other DSLR I've gotten my paws on cuz I'm still n00b.) 1. The most noticeable...

    HUGE Increase in Sony prices!

@Oh thanks Navlem. @Mronetwothree, it seems most of the Sony equivalent of Minolta lenses are nearly about the same price le...just slightly more expensive. But probably the performance like the focusing is faster I guess? But I've never really tried the lenses yet. Do you have any experience?
