I read somewhere that microdrives has a altitude limits for it to work. When it is too high up, the air is too thin for the drive to work but does anyone know what height is that?

Each picture taken by my Minolta 7Hi results in 2 files, .mrw and .thm What is the use of .thm. I can still open the picture using the dimage viewer even after I deleted the .thm file. Would deleting it cause a loss of info to work with when editing the raw file? Please someone enlighten me.
