You are right. Tamron's VC stands for Vibration Compensation.

I'm getting my hands on this Sigma 50mm f1.4 today from a friend who is returning from HK. Hs said the focus was clear and fast when he tested it at the shop. I hope I do not have to send it in for calibration. Just want a confirmation...some have mentioned that calibration at sigma is no longer...

My bro in law owns both the 17-55 IS and the 50f1.4. I have tested both the Canon 17-55 IS and Canon 50 f1.4 last night, in low light condition at a party, handheld (which is often the situation). 17-55 IS is better marginally, but just not enough for me to pay 2 times (2nd hand) or 3 times...

Point noted. thanks for your inputs. Even with the budget, I would not have considered the 16-35mm. I am sure you are extremely pleased with a 16-35mm and I am sure it is a very very good piece of glass, but the range is just too short for my needs. Not to mention the use of HD video, noise...

Are 50mm f1.4 or 85mm f1.8 considered to have fast AF? 135 and 200 might be too long on my cropped 7d.
