After reading so many posts, I finally modded my D70 with the lifepixel filter. The process of installation took me about 15 minutes and though it was stressful, it seemed fairly straight forward. Thanks to all the useful advice, especially from deadpixel! Now off to try taking pix!! Got...

The lifepixel filter seems more abstract compared to the R72. The sky is darker and the trees are whiter. Is that a correct observation?

wow. that is a great reply. Thanks very much. Of the filters you mentioned. Are they easy to find in places such as Cathay or will I have to order them on the net? Also, which one do you find to your liking - or do they all come out the same?

Wondering what is the experience of people here on this... Is it difficult? How much does it cost? Have people who have done this been happy with the results? Really appreciate the feedback..
