    Good first lens for D90?

never owned a dslr, so not tried the kit lens. i don't have a literal budget per se (not experienced enough to set one!), but anything good value would be great. any typical first lens for people just starting out?

    recommend a DSLR!!

the difference is getting bigger, cos s'pore is used less and less as an initial port of distribution i heard. anyway, any gd place to recommend online or in NY? would like to buy as much as possible on my trip there like a true-blue s'porean!

going prosumer 1st means an extra step, which means more $$ down the drain in the long run. i've already learnt quite abit from my previous one. i'm getting 18-70 in the kit, all i need is a 70-200/300 to complete it. i'm not considering any other lenses. UV filter is considered essential...

these r ok, i've taken them into acc. it's the lens/filters buying that goes on n on, the essentials r 1-off payments, still ok. 18-70 is a pretty gd range aredi for me, my next if i need it is maybe a 70-300. but that's abt it, i dont plan to get more. buying essentials oso considered BBB...

    recommend a DSLR!!

my last camera lasted me 5 yrs b4 it died, i'm not really into the BUYBUYBUY syndrome. but i do have another concern. like u mentioned, the range of lens is smaller. will i be able to get high quality lens for the KM-5D, or is sigma the best i can realistically go?

uhm yah... so can the KM 5D decide the power of the ext flash?

if the 5D doesn't have an auto-flash system, can it then decide the power of the external flash? that's my question. i'll need it at least at the start as i've no experience in external flashes at all...

    ND(Neutral Density)

that's technically true, but u dont use a ND filter to prevent over-exposure rite? so i can safely assume the pics w/o ND filter won't be overexposed, thus negating the need for one in the 1st place. :P

yeah, it's still not a positive thing not to have auto per se, as the manual function is always there so no loss. that's wat i meant. but wat u said is true upon reflection, i hated my prosumer flash cos i cldn't control its instensity. ended up improvising with tissues n stuff. then ended up...

    ND(Neutral Density)

oh ok, just as i thought. just a quick question, ND filter merely cuts out light equally across the spectrum, n PS can only simulate ND with a still shot. wldnt that merely amount to reducing exposure?

    ND(Neutral Density)

photoshop can create the silky water effect?? that's amazing!
