After shooting 1.6 for so long, it still feels weird.

I've been looking around and I realized a significant number of people actually jumped to the dark side. So I carefully analysed the D700. The cross-type AF points are the same as the D3 series: 15 cross-type AF sensors clumped together in the center out of the 51 AF...

    Jumping ship to Canon

Btw TS, lens sharing is more of a myth. Don't take it into consideration. ;)

Wai, appreciate your insight. Canon has done very distinct positioning on their bodies that somehow the 7D seems to be still not as capable as the old 1D bodies in terms of AF. Sidetrack a little: hope to hear your opinion on how the older 1D bodies trump the 7D in terms of AF (especially...

Thx guys for the comments. I'm not going to the dark side yet. But I will consider. I'm sure Canon system suits most people here but too bad alot of people realize that maybe the dark side suits them better. There is no good or bad, it's a matter of needs. I wonder who shoots 7D here and...

Haha. Anthony, I do not want to take slower, high quality images. Coz I would end up with zero image. I also do not mind losing 1EV of SNR at higher ISOs using a crop body. Anw, the main topic here is field of view so I shall stop here.

Sadly like what engrmariano said, the 5dIII would probably not have 1D-type AF system. Actually, the 7D seems like the D300 rival. If Nikon didn't come out with the D300, I don't think they would make a crop 1D-type AF camera. I know, its the marketing thing. But they could look at it this...

Haha, maybe switching to 'the dark side' would avoid it  I have no intention of doing that, but :dunno:

We're talking abt pro-level zooms here. 17-55mm f/2.8 USM is a great lens, but I don't mind spending a little more for the Ls, and also get better build etc. Not much of a difference compared to the price of a pro-level body. And, a 70-200/2.8L will not function like one on a crop body. Of...

It's the focal length. Let's not talk about ultra-wide or super tele; just wide, normal and tele. I'm only talking about f/2.8 pro zooms. Sure, I do use primes but that is another issue. FF users have 2 very nice lenses to use, 24-70/2.8L and 70-200mm/2.8L. 24-70 on crop becomes a near normal...

    550d and 50d (need advise)

550d is lighter, can shoot video, has slightly improved metering and the ability to print very slightly bigger. Noise/dynamic range - no significant difference AF/burst speed/shutter lag/VF blackout, ergonomics, viewfinder size/quality, weather sealing - 50d is better. Apparently, it...

Instalment plans to get their gears

I think evilorgi's post made the most sense. In other words, unless you are sure you can put your money into good use, then paying via installment makes no big difference from paying lump sum.

Instalment plans to get their gears

I thought paying via installment is advantageous even if you need to pay a lil interest? Can any economist here explain this?

    Handholding heavy lenses

Headshotzx: That is just awesome...makes ur stuff seem lighter + you can run around with it. Gotta go try it out. But it looks too pro for casual use. Thanks! +evenstar: The 2nd method is the 'awkward' method I was talking about. I tried the previous method. I managed to make the strap 'fall...

    Handholding heavy lenses

+evenstar: That is interesting. When I use that method, the camera gets stuck in an awkward position. Please let me know how you do it... I wonder why nobody commented on the v i d e o yet?
