Any recommendation for Canon EOS 350D?

since you ask abt 350D, my comment would be, YES it is indeed one of the good pieces for beginner to understand DSLR tech. - what you need other that the items mention is just a drybox (MS Colour has it at Sgd23). Then, you are in. cheers.

guess, that everyone in CS is the same. Step1: get a camera Step2: shoot Step3: (see step2) and learn photo-editing software (Photoshop, GIMP etc...) Step4: (see step3) ~ meaning more another advise.... join a group and go outings once in a while. good luck

    Getting a dslr... 1000d or 450d?

Well, it is good to follow your thoughts (sticking to 1000D). but, i would still 'stay' with the other contributors of this thread (i.e. non had advise 1000D). IMHO, it would be 450D (if do not mind the 200 bucks addition). good luck with your test-drive.

    Which is recommended?

IMHO: if you do not mind, pre-owned - Canon 400D with kit 18-55mm IS would do (average from B&S would be hovering arnd S$650.) you can play with it for 3-6 months and resell it again arnd S$550 (maybe you can even fetch 600) and by-then should know what you really need and can invest a huge...
