Is there any specific company that I should stay away from? I don't mind spending extra on an original Canon battery if it is the best way to go.

Is there a difference in OEM and generic batteries for a Canon Digital Rebel XT? I would like an extra battery, but looking on the net, I have found several battery companies. Is one better than the other or should I just buy another Canon battery? Thanks for any info.

Since I am new to using this type of camera, I was looking at the IS because the Canon site recommended it for hand held shots. I normally don't have the time to get out the camera and then the tripod. I wanted the 70-300 for the range.
