    Building a walk around system

24-105L is great on full frame camera. I didn't like it as much on my 1.6X cropped camera. I use 24-105L on my 5D MKII on my recent trip and it was on the camera 90% of the time. You have to try out and see if it is wide enough (38mm) for you with the 1.6x camera.

Cheaper lens and equipment in Msia

I bought my equipment in M'sia and Singapore. I would buy in Singapore for: very new items (e.g. 5D MKII accessories: BG-E6 Battery Grip, etc.) or slightly harder-find-items (e.g. Gitzo tripods, uncommon B+W filter sizes, etc.) in KL. Generally though, KL prices are much cheaper due to the...

Shutter count and related info for 1D MK III

Does anyone know how to get the shutter count or manufactured date info for 1D MK III? I am trying to decide to buy a new looking unit (but used) that seems like a good deal but I need to find out the shuttle count and/or the age of the camera. Thanjks.

    canon sales

That is not true. As far as I know, most lenses, especially the L lenses are cheaper in M'sia. In M'sia, there is a different in street price vs retail/manufucturer recommended price. I was looking for the 35mmf1.4L and Cathay quoted me SGD2100. I can get this in M'sa for roughly SGD1970.

    Zoom creep on the 24-105 f/4 L

Mine is less than 6 months old and it does not creep. So far, I am very happy with the lens especially the weight and picture IQ.

Do you clean the sensor yourself?

Yes, I have been doing mine from 350D to my current 30D. I used both dry and wet method as well. Too lazy to go to service center for sensor cleaning.

Experience of cleaning my 5D sensor at home. With pictures.

I have this too and this will help only in some cases. In other cases, you need to go with the wet cleaning method if the dust is more stubborn. THe wet method is much more adventurous/risky. I think the dry cleaning with sensor sweep is pretty low risk but then I can still see people...

Which is Sharper ? or better ?

I used to own the f4, now have the f2.8 IS. To me, sharpness is about the same for the two lenses. The decision to own which should be based on weight vs f2.8.

    Lens Combo...

Option A gives you more reach and the 70-200 f4 is a slightly sharper lens than the 24-105 f4. I used to have the former and sold it to get the 2.8 IS version and sometimes still wish I keep it because of the compactness and weight advantage - especially if you carrying it for a long time (e.g...

    Travel with a 400D + BG-E3 + EFS 17-55 f2.8 IS USM

Personally, I use the Crumpler Karachi which can take a lot of stuff plus a laptop/notebook. Then I would put a small slim bag in my big luggage. The slim bag will be used to carry the laptop around the office. But then, I travel heavy load with my camera gears (2 bodies with 17-40mm...

    70-200mm f/4 of f/2.8

Sometime I wish I didn't sell my f4 to get the f2.8 IS. If you plan to use this lens for travel photography or to use it and carrying it around for the whole day, the f4 is significantly lighter and may be a better choice. You have to consider and decide if weight is an issue. The 2.8 IS is...

Are all of canon lens made in japan?

I am not sure if there is a straight answer to this. The practice varies from industry to industry and product to product. In general, Made in XXX means the product is made and assembled at XXX. However, for some complex products such as cars or even certain photographic equipment, one will...

Are all of canon lens made in japan?

At the end of the day, it is the quality control that counts. One thing for sure: I just went shopping in here US yesterday and there is hardly anything made in USA. Most are made in China; some are made in Philippines and Malaysia

Do You Insure Your Equipment When Travelling Overseas?

I travel extensively and so far have not insured my equipment. My thinking is that I could buy a bunch of assessories instead of the insurance premium! :)
