If it's not a firmware difference, maybe the sensor behaviour is influenced by a specific camera menu setting. Might have to compare my 7D & apchoo's side-by-side, menu by menu, to see if that's the case. The alternative is that there's a production difference in the hardware. If it's that...

Is there any significant difference between firmware 1.10u and 1.10e? That is, if it turns out that the problem occurs in 1.10u but not in 1.10e, can I change the firmware in my apparently US-market 7D to an "e" version without cooking the camera?
