    Good Headphones / Earphones

1150 USD... worth every dollar though! I just got Audio-Technica ESW-9 as well for casual use, because I cannot share my UE11 with my friends when I want to show them funny YouTube video in library or crowded areas... I can't stop smelling the lambskin headband and earpads! :dunno::bsmilie:

    Good Headphones / Earphones

This baby spoil me so much already. I cringe whenever my friend want to share their music using their iBuds or whatever. UE11 is true king of portable sound. :sweatsm:

    Kit 18-55mm vs Tamron 17-50mm

Definitely justifiable. If you use the 18-55 kit as your primary lens, and you want to upgrade to Tamron, do it. The wide aperture (f2.8) and better IQ will be better than the IS feature on the kit lens anyways. At any rate, I love my Tamron. :D

Just got my Canon 40D ....

You sure it's not just the AI Focus switching to Servo Mode and following the locked object when moving the camera? Keep it on One-Shot AF and see what happens.

    A tokina 80-200 f/2.8 vs sigma 70-200 f/2.8

AF 80-200mm f/2.8D ED - $1650 (John, Sep07 - ferrariGTR) Tokina AT-X 828 (80-200) - $800 on ebay.sg? No exact pricing on this lens, but I would assume that the Nikon sells for approx $1200 used and the Tokina around $700-800. So there is a significant difference, at least. At any rate I...

Best portrait lens for closeup headshots ?

Use bounce cards/diffusers of some sort to get non-harsh flash - NEVER use direct flash. I personally use the Demb Flip-it! Pro with the Diffuser option, really great at bouncing the flash, and much smaller than the Gary Fong Lightsphere which is the other one that people like the most. The...

Best portrait lens for closeup headshots ?

High-end body has better noise reduction compared to low-end. D300 vs D80, for example, or 5D/40D vs 450D. Plus you got higher ISO range too.

Where do we go from here (what lens :D)

Tammy 17-50, for sure. IQ and wide aperture makes this lens awesome. IS is nice, but wide apertures are better for low-light. IS doesn't stop a moving subject, faster shutter because of f/2.8 does.

Tamron SP AF28-75mm F/2.8 or AF 17-50mm F/2.8 XR Di II LD

Don't worry, they're talking about the Nikon mount of the lens. All Canon-compatible EF/EF-S lenses have motor, and the Tammy has a motor for the 450D. No major differences.

Canon 450D users, please share your experience

Dude, how many pics a day do you shoot? I have two in a batt grip and I can take ~1200+ pictures on those two alone.

Question on Sigma 18-200 HSM OS

Battery drain - don't worry about it, I think you'll still get 600+ shots out of the 450D battery. It's quite ridiculously long-lasting. Now with my batt grip I charge monthly or something - charged both batteries once, shot a wedding (600+ pics), topped up one battery, and haven't charged in 3...

Taking Pictures at the night safari

    Fast prime with a monopod, preferably. 1600ISO or higher, wide-angle-ish. Say, 35mm f/2 or Sigma 30mm f/1.4 or Canon 50mm f/1.8.

Question on Sigma 18-200 HSM OS

Yeah, that would work. The kit lens is actually a good value, though, and it costs not that much more in kit form than just body. You could buy kit then sell off the lens to get some money.
