you can set the built-in flash to manual instead of auto to have control of flash power. lower down the flash output and you can use it as fill. for slow sync (rear sync?) it would only kick-in if your shutter speed is 1/30 or slower

i would strongly advise you get a "Elinchrom D-Lite-it 4 To-go set", that is everything you need to get started with studio lighting and might be all you need.

thanks catchligths 400 yuan is roughly $75 right? also considering that elinchrom is not making grids for their beauty dishes and i cannot get a knock off one locally then i think that price would be reasonable. anyways, i will ask my colleauge to purchase it for me today and see what happens
