Oops, I meant manual focus, 'cos I'm using an MF. I was quite paiseh to start shooting among the digital guys...

Went there, but didn't shoot. Observing some pros instead. Like to ask: is it wise to shoot this type of event using a manual?

Too bad some shots struck by motion blur, but very nice shots, so beautiful :lovegrin:

Thanks for the comments. afbug: I think it's my lens, not the sharpest around, and even USM can't salvage the picture enough without showing signs of artifacts. S11loop: Just got my posting, going to find out about what freedom I might have.

Woah :o ... but the block in the centre that blocked out the orange hue seems a bit distracting.

Thanks all :) Arcanic: I know about the dull colours and contrast, but I couldn't see a way to improve on it without changing the mood. I love shots of fishing people :) fuzzy: I was using Superia X-TRA 400, but the scanned product had a greenish tinge. I Level-ed to make it warmer...

What were you shooting? And what's those white misty clouds?

#1 has this cool look in the eyes... What was the guy in #4 doing? Quite interesting :thumbsup:

It comes at 1840x1232. It's good enough for 4"x6" prints at 300ppi, but I think it's more like a preview of your shots to choose the good ones from the bad.

To capture more background object, set your aperture smaller, maybe f/8, to increase the depth of field. For the night scene, you can increase your sensor sensitivity by upping the ISO number (though you will have to live with the noise), and also using your widest aperture to capture more light.
