    Sony A6300, finally!

No. I have both 18-55 and 16-50.. and 16mm. 16-50 is primarily useful for outdoor activities or when you can't bring a full size bag, but I seldom use it as at end of the day the A6000 is not weather sealed. Still a good lens to have in some instances but I've been trying to use a RX100M3 in...

    Sony A6300, finally!

Still deciding if want to upgrade to A6300 over the A6000 - seems like the main difference is action shots and video which I'm not sure I need. Not sure if any difference on weather proofing? On lens, I own most of the native lenses but my main lens now is the 16-70f4, supplemented by 10-18 and...

    A6000

Understand your point, but isn't PDAF also able to track when we move the camera? e.g. someone skateboarding across our screen, but we also shift our body sideways to follow the person when they pass by? I agree this is not a good test though - just to illustrate what is the PDAF doing. One...

    A6000

I thought AF-A is just a mode that helps you auto select between AF-S and AF-C depending on scenario. From what I read, this is apparently not fixed even when you have focus lock, so you can lock focus of a person with AF-S and when the person is moving, it automatically switches to AF-C to...

    A6000

Sorry, meant 'level gauge' when I said 'auto level'. Didn't think the description through. :) After using it for few days.. just IMO only: - I'd probably stick to Nex 7 if I was a pure manual user with a fixed lens (e.g. 24f1.8).. ditto if I am a manual focus user. The tri-navi dials are just...

    A6000

I think I got PDAF.. updated all my previous lenses' firmware. Think it isn't a option you select, and just depends on the lens. Before I updated, I just got the usual green AF boxes. Now I also see white square boxes around the original target when I shift the camera around.

    A6000

Collected my a6000.. think the freebies are the same as posted before. First impressions versus my Nex 7: - Some might miss the auto level, I don't feel it's a big issue. - New features take awhile to get used to.. I don't like how the camera tries to auto-crop my pictures for me, thinking it's...

Got call from MS Color for collection already.. will collect later. I guess slowly all the shops are getting their stock. Still need to follow-up for some of the free gift like battery though.

Nex auto-focus - does it depend on the lens?

Yes, of course will have to use a A mount lens. Only thing I don't like is losing 1/3 or 1/2 a stop of light. If I can get a nice A-mount zoom with the LA-EA2, this might be a nice compromise to solve the problem for my occasional use. Back to theory, would the 55-210 be faster than 18-200...

Nex auto-focus - does it depend on the lens?

I discussed with a friend about this - not sure how it works but in zooms, the focus could be required to cover a greater length which could be partly why it takes longer to focus (e.g. from 30cm away to 10-20m away). As a side question - does going for LA-EA2 with PDAF improve the AF...

Nex auto-focus - does it depend on the lens?

Thanks.. the aperature comment makes sense. With the 18-200, at far end of the zoom, we are default towards f6.3, which isn't ideal.. this could affect its performance. For the AF motor - this is more of the speed in which the AF can shift to the desired spot right?
