@Eugene, this lens couple with any Nikon bodies with builtin flash will has this issue. 18-200 oso give me this too. Solutions is either use an external flash or just step back a few steps, zoom in to your desire composure, then the shadow cause by the lens will not show up. Hopes this help.

It should be able to do continue focus, if Nikon 1 can, D800 should be able, I believed. Did you search the in cam menu for continuous focusing? or turning on Face recognition may helps?

Yes...there are risk buying online, especially overseas. To safe guard ourselves, request for photos of the cam, at least can fight for refund due to wrong info.
