Agreed. Quote ur budget and usage so that pple can help you better. On the budget side, I would really recommend Canon A series. I myself bought a A70. The A series offer the cheapest cameras with manual controls.

I use Aperture Priority mode most of the time simply because it can be used to control the depth of field. Next most commonly used would be Manual to have more control over the amount of exposure. Actually I do use scene modes. Or rather, just one of them: sports mode. It's for times when...

From the pictures, it seems that it has either to do with "camera shake" or focusing problems. The Canon pic does seem sharper.
