Persoanlly, I find the M3-T is ample for such trip, in fact I find it too bright. The M6 is really overkill and that is why I seldom use my M6. Zoom? Or do you mean the focusing features like the Maglite?

Haha, only a flashaholic knows what a ROP is. Is the ROP brighter than your M6? Not everyone flashaholic will bring out their powerful lights one mah.

Actually they don't need anyone to convert them, I think they should have a flashaholic calibre member inside the team who take charge of gadgets and I am sure this guy will have some really powerful lights.

Indeed HID are efficient as I did put it on my list, look at point no.2 :) However, HID are so fragile that they cannot take any shock, once drop on the ground is sure to render the light useless and malfunction. That was what happened to my HID and I have yet replace the bulb. And if you want...

    Torchlight hobbyist? Anyone??

Disadvantages of HID 1) Requires a ballast to work (more parts mean more prone to failure) 2) F**king expensive bulb replacement 3) Very Fragile (So it is expensive and fragile), very sensitive to shock 4) No instant on/off (Instant on/off will make the light spoil faster) 5) Poor colour...

Spot on! cyrilng, not only the beam brightness will not go dim, the CCR (Co-related Color Rendition) is excellent. It is like natural sunlight. There aren't many regulated incandescant around because it is difficult to regulate an incandescant light. The A2 uses LVR (Lightbulb Voltage Regulator)...

True, LED is much much more efficient. But at the end of the day you'll have to see what are you using a light for. Not all Surefire lights have only 1 hour runtime lah, the Lux LED version ones some have 80 hours! If you want to a Surefire with long runtime, go for the these, Surefire A2...
