Hey Xec, In my opinion, I think the glaring yellow light on the left is a distraction, and also, the water flowing down the 'steps' are too still, perhaps due to lack in exposure. If I were you, I would take the shot in the late afternoon, probably 4-5pm, with a tripod and ND filter to increase...

Using a wet cloth would be just fine for me, I'm not too concerned about my camera being squeaky clean.

I feel that the person matters. Even shots by SLRs can be better than shots be DSLRs

Some of you recommend that my kit lens was good enough. Truth is, sometimes I have problems focusing with my kit lens. I normally arrange the food properly so I do not use cropping.

I have been into food photography for quite some time. However, I still use my kit lens only. Can someone recommend me which kind of lens to use, maybe a macro lens, or is my kit lens (18mm-135mm) good enough? Help greatly appreciated :wink:

Don't lose your interest just because you have not been shooting and your shots have deproved. Draw an organiser and plan your time wisely, hopefully every week you can have at least 3 hours of free time to improve your shots. Faithfully follow that organiser and you would not have to complain...

There are some tourists that may be too poor to stay in 3, 4 or 5 star hotels. So maybe they have no choice but to move there? But even so, they can just stay in some service apts, why need to stay in hotels? Just a thought...
