    It would depend on the depth of the scratch. If it's only the coating that was scratched, usually you won't notice the effect. Flares may appear. When the optic is breach, that's when you get more distraction.

    If possible, insist for a hand-carry check. It would really depend on the X-ray of the airport.

    I agree with Primephotog. RF has been there way back World War II. It's the type of camera which most great photographers used. So slim that most of the time, you're "invisible" to your subject.
