go down and try them and you should probably have your answer. i doubt dslr in the same price range have much difference in image quality these days but canon do have more lens to choose from

you will probably need a zoom like the tamron 17-50, 50mm isn't really suited for landscape since you may want to shoot that too.. and a tripod.. depending on your budget you can go for the 18-55 kit lens or the 17-55 too..

was thinking about the same thing a few weeks ago, in the end went for D60 cuz of the price difference and it feels more sturdy.. but if you want to use prime lens, most nikon prime lens cannot auto focus on D60.. zoom lens are less of an issue i think..
