Thanks :) Initially I had thought that the Nikkor 28-300 was for DX. Looks like my choices are Nikkor 18-200 or Tamron 18-270 for general walking around (and be my main lens). I'm leaning towards the Tamron to use as my main but have concerns since there are some who say its AF is slow. Also...

Hmmm, I didn't know about the loss of AF for the Tamron 18-270 at that aperture. Anyway I just checked the pricing; the prices for both are quite close!

Also can, the price difference isn't too big. Just thought the additional zoom from the Tamron is good, and besides, the 18-270 seems to be highly recommended when I did a search on this forum.

Yeah, will probably need to buy another tripod. The one I have feels too heavy.

hmmm, then the alternative Sigma 8-16 will be a no-no for me too.

Hi, I'm looking for a walkaround lens, and plan to buy either the Nikkor 28-300 or Tamron 18-270 to pair with the Tokina 11-16. I reckon both the Nikkor and the Tamron are walkaround lenses, so am wondering which one to pair with the Tokina 11-16? Thoughts?
