hey! was thinking that you should go take a look at the "Mariposa Grove of Big Trees" when you are at Yosemite. Not sure if it fits your itinerary but when I was there it was on the way from Yosemite.. should be pretty near.. Big trees, beautiful colours and a quiet woods..
