Heys!
Congrats on jumping into a really exciting period for M4/3.
Just to clarify some points. GX7 will only work out of the box with M4/3 lenses which is a different category of lenses from the older 4/3 lenses. However, with the GX7 in body stabiliser, you could probably just get a converter...
Fully agree, video wise, the befree is not meant for videos as well.. the ballhead that comes with it is more for photos (static) it can't be used for panning etc. You could change ballheads for that purpose but that would affect the folder capabilities as the ballhead that comes with it has a...
I believe something like the D3 with LARGE lenses might cause a bit of a problem for this tripod and would require a sturdier model (which usually means heavier). Usually for larger sized models I think people would prefer to use tripods that come with a counterweight hook (correct me if I am...
Heys I got it slightly more than $200 if I remember correctly. Got it just before national day with some promotion from Cathay Photo can't remember the exact price but I reckon current price should be somewhere within the range you mentioned.
For the price I really believe this is a bang for...
I am not too sure what you budget is, but I bought a Manfrotto Befree recently and I am really loving it. Especially the solid construction, it is not light by any chance. It is 40cm when folded and about 1.4kgs which I think is manageable for a solid tripid. =) Just my two cents.
For tabletop videos like yours I doubt you would need a dedicated macro lens, what you could probably consider doing is purchase a 35-100 F2.8 and zoom in.. from what I understand.. dedicated macro lenses come more into play when you want to take close up images with quite a bit of DOF. But in a...
EPL5 vs GX7.. I think quite safe to say the GX7 won't disappoint.. can't wait to have a feel of it though.. seems like quite a solid build based on all the youtube videos..

@jackwolf, actually I think even though your two criteria are fulfilled, it would be good to keep 1 more body especially if you have more than 1 lens.
I am a current user of the EM5 and I intend to get one more body, either another EM5/EM6/GX7 so that I don't have to keep switching my primes...
Heys, I think the issue here is that you actually have two totally different "functions" which you are trying to achieve with one lens, hence 12-35mm f2.8 would be the best option (this costs within the range of S$1.1k-S$1.25k on clubsnap now I believe).
The issue here is that spending that...
Thanks for the info man..if anything above S$1k I think I would rather go for the 75mm because right now I have the 25mm and 60mm macro (which seems to shoot pretty nice non-macro photos)
So I guess my vote would be no on this lens, however.. if the price is right.. BBB bug might bite.
Sigh...
