Bro I have the same A200W kit as you have (looking at your signature). Tried HDR from time to time. To do HDR with A200, you must capture multiple shots. (or you can play around with just 1 raw file). The DRIVE MODE button gives you option to select Continuous Bracketing or Single Frame...

Ha ha ha, what am I thinking? Now that you mention that purple fringing (PF) aught not be the case of this kit 75-300 lens, sending it for check/replacement is the right thing to do. But first, let me see if I can recreate a testable, repeatable scenario to reveal PF. Not to totally downplay...
