    The Extreme Nights Singapore

IMO, this is one of the worst event I've been to. Wasted SGD10 walking around in a dark hall. Only action is the drift driving at the carpark, and consolation is the Metro sales. Poorly organised, because no timing of events is displayed, leaving one to wonder when or if there's anything going...

Everybody needs RAID! please do so today!

BTW, HDD used in most if not all SLS raid based mainboard or raid card are compatible. Meaning you remove one of the two RAID1 HDD and put into another brand, your data is still intact. This is not likely to be true when configured for RAID5 or RAID0+1. If raid controller fail, you must find...

Everybody needs RAID! please do so today!

Yes, you're right when it's commercial hardware, other than poorer performance for RAID5. What you state is correct. I'm warning against fault tolerance that use more than 2 HDDs, in PC mainboard or cheap raid card. These does not have the same reliability as the commercial variant. There's a...

Everybody needs RAID! please do so today!

My advise is to buy 3 HDD of the same size and a RAID1 controller card. Yes it cost, but small price compared to your years of photography images, and most probably a fraction of your photo equipment. Act now! RAID1 for 2 HDD. Don't bother with RAID5 or RAID0+1 unless your RAID controller...

    Guess the ISO setting

Agree with miniultra, it has to be 6400 from the 1DmkIII , otherwise nothing to boast about. Trolling the forum! The new Canon pro bodies like 5D and 1DmkIII handle noise very well.

    i drop my lens

If you decided to gave up on repairing, try dismantling it and put the parts back. I did that once on a EF lens, after a fall years back, and the lens doesn't AF. As it turn out, the gear track dislocate. I got the lens back in working order. :bsmilie:

how far have camera phones gone?

I'm using N95 that has 5mp with carl zeiss lens. Good for emergency or ad hoc use (you don't carry a camera around everyday wherever you go). Very slow in between take, thus no good for activity.
