    mini Antz...

Ant and an aphid. All great macros with a good ratio. Number 2 and especially number 4 I really love. They give scale to the size of the aphid and the ant. BTW, you have very large ants, ours would be half this size. Interesting. Impressive macro work ender, well done. Danny.

How to take sharp Macro shots on small objects?

Backgrounds. Take a large white piece of white paper. Lay your item on it and then toward the rear, curve it upward. make sure that its quite a long distance back. just a gentle curve, this also helps even out the lighting on the background with a gentle graduation. The reason to keep the...

Show me your favorite galleries (Part VII: Macro)

I keep a very close eye on what is going on in the macro world :). Quite a few don't have sites and there are a few that are REALLY getting good. Michael Keniston, David Gottlieb, Ron Day, all extraordinary in the macro Field IMHO. ---------------------------------------- There will only...

    Three

Yes agreed "3" and not "Three". Very clever title that way for this incredible shot. Just magic mega, I love just love it. All the best Johnny, amazing "3" :) Danny.

    The Death of a Hopper

Ahhh, thanks Johnny. We call a grass hooper a "Hopper". My mistake and sorry about that Johnny :) Had no idea about that and I guess we learn something new everday. All the best Johnny and fine shot. Danny.

    The Death of a Hopper

Life and death in the natural world. Great shot mega. Glad you were there to record it. Are you sure its a hooper and not a moth. Anyway, great stopped action shot. Excellent macro again :) All the best Johnny, love it. Danny.

    Dragonflies - bluegray and red

Wonderful details in both shots. Both different and excellent. The first one is brilliant. Just those hot spots in the upper right corner. Top notch sharpness and work IMHO. :) Danny.

    Papilio Peranthus (A Swallowtail Butterfly)

Lighting is PERFECT !!!. Beautiful macro again Johnny. Don't really care what the background is because it suits this shot so well. It really helps show off those gorgeous wings and head details. All the best mega, fine work and image. Danny.

    Papilio polytes romulus (Common Mormon)

You are far too hard on yourself Jeff :), but thats a good thing. The first shot is beautiful, great timing and shot. would love to see it bigger though. Well worth posting around. Love it. The last shot is starting to interest me :). The details are there and just that lighting needs to be...

    Robber fly?

Come back a second time to this, beautiful shot and fly. I think mega (Johnny) posted a shot of this type of fly as well. I've never seen anything like, wonderful macro to see it this close. Very long legs and great colours. No doubt I will be back to this one again Ben :) Danny.

    The eye of a fly

I don't reverse the lenses Z, just normal. Some flies stay but most take off when we get this close. I miss more than I get thats for sure. I start off with a shot from around 300mm away and end up with about 4 shots as I get closer. This one let me get real close. All the best Z :) Danny.

    The eye of a fly

Taken outside on a warm day. Not much DOF at this ratio. All the best guy's :) Danny. Sony CD-1000 @ 350mm, IS on, F/11, 1/30th, Canon 100mm on front @ F/5.6. Daylight and diffused flash. Lens to subject distance around 80mm

    Mating flies

  , very nice. Danny.

    Among others...

I like it as is. I don't think more DOF is needed for this. If there was more it might well look too busy. Here its nicely isolated and good use of selective focus, IMHO anyway. I like it very much, nice perspective. Danny.
