i bought the EF-S 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 today at JO 3:16... price as of today is $980 w/gst :)

you should also hear a soft whirling (or is it soft clicking?) sound. This also indicates the IS is working. :)

f/4.5 at 200mm, with IS. Shot on my 400D, 10MP resolution: at 100% crop... very, very sharp. and a very, very pissed cat. :bsmilie:

very sharp wide open... based on my one day experience of the lens. :bigeyes: its a no-horse-run lens!

handheld at telephoto ranges is better to have IS, i felt. of course, if you are using a tripod, then not an issue. :cool: but yes IS cost a bomb as well, so if u have the budget, i recommend you go for it. its really useful :)

actually what u shoot matters too... if i do street candids, i dun think i'll hold the 70-200...sure it has superior quality but its just too "bright" :sweat: the 70-300 blends in much better :bsmilie:

i think budget plays a part too... 70-200 f/2.8 or f/4? IS or no? guess should be more expensive than the 70-300
