Traveling around to find old abandoned places or places with rich history that was forgotten in time filled my military and local history cravings. As a collector and fan of old and forgotten technology and equipments, flea markets like the famous Sungei Road is one of my favourite hunting spots. Salvation Army Family Thrift Shop is not bad too. Many donated items are working and some are hard to come by. Besides taking photos, old lenses are my favorite too. Sense of achievement and joy came when I am able to put them into use in this digital era. Big vehicles like trucks, buses and construction machines had me interested since I was a small boy. However, buses took the big percentage. One thing I like is the engine sounds, what I would called and described as " The Symphony of Moving Cylinders ". Cylinders here refers to the cylinders inside the engine blocks. To compete this symphony, additional sounds comes from the gear boxes does the job. Commonly heard in Singapore public buses are ZF by its characteristic cat howl when shifting from Gear 1 to 2 and the whistling from Voith when the buses is slowing down.
