Just borrow a tripod from the shop and test if you prefer. Atmost tell them you are also considering getting a tripod and they will be more than happy to bring out several for you to try.:D
Thank for the link. Just realised that Microsoft had made changes to the Full Format for Windows 7. My fault that I didn't read till the end of the 2nd article that I've link which actually did mentioned about this difference in win7 full format.:embrass:
You mind show me where you learnt this from?
My stand is still that full format just does a additional scan to fix bad sectors compare to quick format, and you can read this Microsoft Support article Differences between a Quick format and a regular format.
Here is another article on...
Since you've added pointers to my post, can I reply now?
Yes, 1 & 2 are human errors. But what is the likelihood of same mistake happening twice around the same time? The HDs failure can be caused by the NAS power supply fault.

ie scuba tank, bcd, regulator, fins + booties, mask, smb, reel, dive comp, camera, housing, strobes + arms. But then once underwater, they are almost weightless. :bsmilie:
The Dicapac is rated for 5m only. Don't think anyone want to use it for diving and risk their DSLR and lens.
Don't think there is any housing for DSLR below $1k. Furthermore, you'll need strobe(s).
Already told you Raid is not equal to backup. Do a bit of research on this, may be you'll understand better.
Eg of situation the Raid will not save you are:
1. Accidental delete of files/folders,
2. Accidental format of wrong partition,
3. Over voltage damaging both HDs simultaneously...
Raid is more for redundancy than as backup.;)
If you accidentally deleted the files, both HDs are affected (which is TS situation). There is also possibility of Raid controller failure and you'll need to get a exact same one in order to access the HDs.
