    Minolta 17-35

Can't remember about the gold speck. I have not taken that lens out of it's box for a very long time now. I'll check and let you know. So where did u buy and how much ?

    Minolta 17-35

absolutely agree with you. I'd love to have a bunch of constant 2.8 also. I just can't afford them ...

    Minolta 17-35

What I meant is: do I need a constant aperture of 3.5 ? Point is: the sigma 2.8-4 will do fine and as I said, 3.3 K is a lot of money to spend on one piece of glass.

    Minolta 17-35

it's all a matter of balancing your needs and your $$. $3.3 K is a lot of dough. It would have been nice to have a constant f2.8, but did I really need it? Did not think so.

    Minolta 17-35

    Absolutely correct: it's an f2.8-4.0.

    Minolta 17-35

when I set out to buy a 17-35, I checked with Minolta. they quoted the f3.5 G at $3300. When I checked Sigma's f2.8, it was $780. The debate ended right there for me. I've used the sigma only a couple of times, no complaint so far. Jimmy
