i got the d90 kit and also the tamron. keeping both because the nikon kit is very good outdoor lens while the tamron is quite a decent indoor performer. if you want to sell the 18-105 later it can easily fetch 300++.

I am new to DSLR too. Got my D90 with 18-105 lens in Oct if not mistaken. Went traveling and shot at least 700 photos. less than 1% is shot at 105mm :) Anyway if i have the budget, wouldn't mind buying 18-200 for convenience sake. You'll never know when you need the "reach"

the 24-120 should be a good travel lens for outdoor. For me I would choose a fast lens to go as well, maybe the 50mm f1.8 or 24-70 f2.8 for indoor. Very useful when you visit aquariums, evening shots and etc. just my 2c worth :) edit: fyi i am on dx

don't forget if you're not thai, you can get tourist refund. just like the gst refund in Singapore

If possible, try to get at least the D80 onwards. This body will be good if you need to use non-motorized lens in future. my 2c worth ;) Happy Holidays!

When I am using D80, I am using 16GB SDHC. No problem at all.
